Pumpkin Carving

The International Student Support Service ran a spooktacular Open House club on 26th October 2011with students learning the art of pumpkin carving. Attendees were given a choice of pumpkins, carving ideas and space to work while creating their own masterpieces.

Visit by Bern University October 2011

In October, fifteen students and three members of staff from Bern University of Applied Sciences visited the university. One of the aims of the visit was to encourage a possible academic collaboration between the two institutions. As an added bonus, the timing of the visit allowed students to attend an international football match, as the Swiss national team were playing Wales in Swansea during that week.

University of Glamorgan hosts Japanese guests

Students and professors from Japan visited the University of Glamorgan this week, to learn more about British culture and to improve their English.

Eleven students and four professors from Kochi University of Technology in Japan arrived in Wales on Friday, 9th September 2011 for a 10-day visit organised by Helen Connies-Laing, Head of the Centre for International English. Student Kazuki Sekiya delivered an impressive welcome speech in English to Glamorgan lecturers and students upon their arrival, before everyone tucked into a buffet provided by the University of Glamorgan

A look back on the pre-sessional English summer course

The University of Glamorgan is proud to present the Pre-sessional English summer course from the Centre for International English.

This unique intensive summer course consists of 25 hours of lectures and seminars a week. There are 30 teachers on this course. It is specifically designed for overseas students and aims to prepare them for their new environment, improve their English language and help them to adjust to British student life, thus reducing culture shock.
